Gibson Unique online guitar riff competition
Tune up your guitar and work on that riff – you could be the lucky winner of a brand new Gibson Les Paul guitar!
Haynes, the world famous publishing company, and Gibson Guitar, makers of the world’s most prestigious guitars, are collaborating on a special competition for guitar players of all ages. This is a great opportunity for guitarists to demonstrate their skills to the whole nation and win great prizes – including a fabulous Gibson Les Paul guitar plus editorial in Guitarist Magazine.
The competition went live on 2 September and will close at midnight on 12 October 2008. To enter, players from 12 years and upwards should create an original guitar riff (not exceeding 40 seconds) and upload it as a music file to the special Haynes microsite for this competition – www.haynes.co.uk/gibson
This unique competition has been set up to celebrate the forthcoming publication of the long awaited Haynes book the Gibson Les Paul Manual – How to buy, maintain and set up the legendary Les Paul electric guitar, by Paul Balmer.
Introduced in 1952, the Gibson Les Paul is the instrument of choice for legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Sir Paul McCartney, Kelly Jones, Neil Young and Slash. Designed by the great musician and innovator, Les Paul, with help from Gibson craftsmen, this guitar has constantly evolved and in 2007, a self tuning Robot Les Paul model was launched. Today, while vintage and rare models change hands for thousands of pounds, almost identical Epiphone and Gibson models are produced for sale worldwide. The Gibson Les Paul remains a classic instrument and, with the help of this practical ‘how to’ manual, it will last a lifetime.
The new Gibson Les Paul Manual will contain essential information such as pre-gig checks, tuning, routine maintenance and servicing, set-ups and customising options and data on model identification.
Author and guitar expert, Paul Balmer, together with Mick Taylor editor of Guitarist magazine, will judge all entries for the competition.
The first prize will be a Gibson Les Paul guitar, two tickets to Music Live (Birmingham NEC November 7-9 November), a signed copy of the Haynes Gibson Les Paul Manual and a profile in Guitarist Magazine. The lucky winner will receive their prizes on the Gibson Tour Bus at Music Live.
In addition, the first 20 online entrants to the competition at www.haynes.co.uk/gibson made after the opening date of Monday 2 September will each receive a signed copy of the Haynes Gibson Les Paul Manual when it is published later this year.
LIVE ON THE JAGERMEISTER STAND!

Saturday 8th - brigade
Here Comes The Crusade……….
If there was ever a band to capture the essence of powerful dynamics, emotional sincerity and perfectly crafted songwriting then Brigade are that band.
Residing in London but with roots in Suffolk, Japan and Bristol, Brigade are a shining example of a band that fall outside the remit of genre classification. No rising young band can take a music fan on such an emotional roller coaster journey as Brigade.
When it came to the creation of second album ‘Come Morning We Fight’, Brigade’s only option was to aim their sights high – in every sense of the word. ‘Come Morning We Fight’ sounds huge. It’s an album that towers over the majority of today’s rock bands and will ensure Brigade catapult into the major playing field.
Here’s a band that write enormous songs; songs that wrap themselves around you like a grappling, hugging bear and won’t let go!

2008 is the year of Logan. Airplay of the forthcoming single "Lost & Found" won the band a support slot with Bon Jovi at Hampden Park in front of 40000 and the subsequent 8 date UK headline tour pushed sales of Cruel Little World to sell out status.
Total sales of all three releases are now nudging 30,000 with no label support.
A new pressing with bonus tracks will be launched in October to compliment a 25 date UK and European tour in support of Alter Bridge
Sunday 9th - templeton pek

The Birmingham trio are already no strangers to the big time, Templeton Pek having completed four arena dates including both legs of the Give It A Name Festival (2007) and Rock Star Taste Of Chaos Tour (2006, 2005), alongside the likes of The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Funeral For A Friend, HIM, Killswitch Engage, Alexisonfire and recently Mindless Self Indulgence.
